Check out this Photoshop script called Lomoize - it makes ordinary photos look like they were shot with an old skool Lomo. Extreme colour saturation and vignetting around the edges - looks pretty authentic to me. That's the recently closed and soon-to-be-bulldozed Clockwork club in Stokes Croft. Bristol's vibrant subculture is slowly but surely being replaced by flats.

Somewhere over the Rainbow......
Been having a bit of a struggle getting into indie mode recently for this flyer design for a new alternative night in Birmingham. The pic shows my three concepts from the first to the most recent (left to right); you can see I've been trying to loosen up and go for that "undesigned" look. In all honesty there's been times when I've questioned the sense of asking a designer to make something look like it hasn't been designed. But I think I'm starting to get it now - the third one works for me and it's been fun to do. It's gonna be a fortnightly event at The Rainbow in Digbeth, and the promoter is keen to do a new flyer for each night. Maybe do themed nights, like a wellies party on Glasto weekend, that sort of thing. Sounds like fun dunnit?

A5 Royalty

A bit of my more corporate stuff - this is what I do in my day job. Making reams of planning text legible, understandable and inviting. This one took the form of a colourful A5 leaflet. Came back from print today (big up Ripe) and I'm pretty happy with it. Rockin the American Typewriter for this one - check my flickr for a few more pics.

Behancing on the ceiling
So I got an invite to this new creative network thing called Behance the other day. Seems like a fairly solid platform to host my portfolio from. Saves the hassle of learning HTML and CSS too (I'll do it one day). See what you think!
